Prefab and modular construction’s potential to improve quality, safety, speed and workforce efficiency is enticing, but experts warn it can be full of surprises. We will hear from panelists who have learned from experience about the need for the entire team to collaborate from the earliest stage to think through the complexities of creating assemblies offsite and integrating them into the job. We will hear from Robins & Morton about the "SmartFab," approach they have developed, and from ConQuest Firespray, about some of the special code compliance challenges that can arise. We also will hear from Perkins & Will's Dallas team about lessons learned during 94,000 hours of offsite prefab construction for a hospital, which was finished two months early with almost 9% shaved off the cost, and from technology consultant VIATechnik, who will show how the tools of VDC can support successful prefab modular construction, every step of the way.
