Weifield Group Contracting Named ENR Mountain States' 2018 Specialty Contractor of the Year

Weifield worked with students from the University of Denver and the University of California-Berkeley, as they competed in the U.S. Dept. of Energy’s worldwide competition to design and build a net-zero-energy house. The DU-UCB team’s 100% solar-powered home earned a third place out of 11 teams. The house was later donated to Denver’s Habitat for Humanity.

Colorado-based Weifield Group Contracting is one of the first electrical contractors in the region to have completed LEED Platinum and net-zero projects. The firm has done 2.5 million sq ft of LEED projects in total. Its four divisions—service, special projects, construction, and water and infrastructure—generated $76.6 million in revenue during 2017, up from $59.2 million in 2016.

The firm does much of its work in the commercial, government and institutional, data center, higher ed, industrial and water infrastructure sectors. Recent completed projects include:

University of Denver Net-Zero-Energy Home. This project was the Colorado winner in ENR Mountain States' Best Green Project category this year. Weifield worked with 20 University of California-Berkeley students and a dozen DU students as part of a global student competition to design and build a net-zero home. The completed house was later donated to Habitat for Humanity.

Vertafore HQ. In Sept. 2017, Vertafore moved its headquarters from Washington to downtown Denver, where it plans to bring on at least 300 new workers over the next four years.
