Considering the significantly negative impacts—such as delayed and halted projects—that the COVID pandemic inflicted upon the nation's construction industry in 2020, the topic of how firms have fared over the past year has been of primary importance in ENR's reporting.

ENR Southeast's still-ongoing* Top Design Firms survey—one of 11 ENR regional surveys—offers some insight into how architectural and engineering firms working in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee and Puerto Rico performed during the dramatically challenging year of 2020.

While it's impossible to make a broad conclusion based solely on the nearly 135 responses to the Southeast Top Design Firms survey that have come in so far, it's fair to report that, in spite of 2020's challenges, many firms achieved some level of revenue growth during the past year, while others came up shy of last year's numbers.
