Allow me to set the record straight: No federal funding will be used in the restoration of the Texas Governor's Mansion, as it turns out. "They were considering using federal funds," a spokeswoman for the State Preservation Board told this reporter.
Nearly half the funds needed for a restoration project at the Texas Governor's Mansion in Austin--badly burned last summer in an act of arson--will come from federal stimulus money.
Most of you in the highway construction and engineering business have been following the massive sunset bill that TxDOT needs to stay afloat. Included in the plan--approved by the Texas House of Representatives-- is a provision that would revamp the Texas Transportation Commission.
