From the nearly 1,200 photo entries received, ENR’s panel of judges narrowed the selections to several dozen viewable at the link below that highlight a broad range of construction activities from the past year, and key visual themes captured from a fresh point of view.
The creators of this year’s selected entries range from seasoned professionals to dabbling amateurs to those simply in the right place at the right time. Their images reflect a range of diverse work going on at jobsites, from rebar tying to concrete placement for foundations and bridgework to steel assembly, curtainwall installation, welding, crane disassembly and several different types of demolition—all taken from a surprising angle or with a new perspective.
At the heart of all of the photos are dedicated construction industry professionals who devote their lives to building the world’s infrastructure.
From industry newcomers such as project engineer Tyler Humphreys, who was both subject and shooter of this compelling image to tough veterans such as former boxer Jimmy Lyons also featured, these individuals showcase the construction industry as a dynamic and vibrant place to work.
