A group of kids helpedAdolfson & Peterson Constructioncut the ribbon on the addition and renovation of Hudson Elementary School in Hudson, Colo., in August. The addition is a two-story, 37,801-sq-ft structural-steel and masonry building with new classrooms, a media center, STEM lab, music room, art room and administrative offices.
Renovations to 13,041 sq ft of the school included a new roof, new flooring and life-safety upgrades. Sitework included playground pits, landscaping and sidewalks. Crews worked in an active and occupied elementary school.
In attendance at the ribbon-cutting were owner representative NV5 and architect TreanorHL, along with Greg Rabenhorst, superintendent of schools; Greg Dent, principal; and the members of the board of education: Bryan Haffner, Fred Jensen, Erin Grundy, Cindy Baumgartner and Deb Gustafson.
“We’re incredibly excited to see these students benefit from the finished building,” said AP project manager Jade Mercer. “It was a pleasure working on a project with such strong community backing.”
The project consisted of two phases and was part of the 2016 school bond, with additional funding from the Colorado BEST program.
GE Johnson Construction Co.held its first annual Eagle County Classic golf tournament on Sept. 14 at the Eagle Ranch Golf Course. Overall, 32 teams participated, raising a total of $18,500. The proceeds went to the Eagle Valley Humane Society to support the needs of homeless animals in the area.
GE Johnson has been building in Eagle County, Colo., for decades, and the firm says the tournament is a way to give back to the community. Current and past projects include renovations and expansions for Vail Health Hospital and various projects for Eagle County Schools, among others.
“Living and working in Eagle County really allows you to see the direct impact we can have. This golf tournament is another fun and inspiring way to support the community,” said Travis Clem, senior project manager for GE Johnson.
