The 10-month fast-track project constructed on a South Pacific island country with scarce resources was completed two months before the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu. The nearly 54,000-sq-ft facility consists of two reinforced concrete and net-framed gymnasiums—the larger of which seats 1,000 people. The project team also constructed six tennis courts, four beach volleyball courts, 10 spectator stands and a running track. Continuous design changes made preordering materials and equipment from abroad difficult. Technical materials for the track, tennis courts, lighting and sound and timing equipment couldn’t be finalized until five months before the project was completed.
